2023 WDW Half Marathon Training: Week 1

No break in training! Last week I ran the USA Women’s Half Marathon in Arizona, and this week I started training for the Walt Disney World Half Marathon in January. It’s just a few short weeks until my next half marathon. Tuesday started with my first 30-minute run. I decided to do a Peloton Walk…

2022 Florida Turkey Trot

It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without a Turkey Trot! The 5K race took place at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota and it was packed with runners and walkers. I think it was the biggest Turkey Trot I’ve run. My only complaint was the lack of awareness from other participants. Turkey Trots are meant to be fun,…

Doggie Bones 5K-ish

This past Sunday I ran the Doggie Bones 5K for Nate’s Honor Animal Rescue, or should I say 5K-ish. That was the joke going around before the start of the race. They told us the courses were 5K-ish and 10K-ish. Well “ish” meant almost four miles. According to my Nike+ tracker the race was 3.79…

September Races

September brought two special races for me: Hockeytown 5K and Disneyland Paris Half Marathon. The Hockeytown 5K was the first race and it took place in Detroit, MI on September 10, 2016. When I signed up for this race I planned on using it to check my race pacing for the half marathon. However, I…

The Farewell Season…with a Run!

I don’t think it’s come up on my blog much, but I am a HUGE hockey fan. I grew up just outside of Detroit and spent my youth watching the Detroit Red Wings. This upcoming season in the NHL is there last at Joe Louis Arena, the arena I grew up going to. So when the organization announced a 5K run kicking off the farewell season with the finish line at center ice, I knew I had to sign up.

Goals Check-In: April

I can’t believe it’s already April! A quarter of the year has passed, which means it’s time to check in on the progress of my goals for 2016. I divided my goals into three categories: blogging, fitness, and nutrition. Let’s review how it’s going. Blogging: For this goal I want to average two blog post per week…

Run for the Turtles 5K

Yesterday was the Run for the Turtles 5K, on Siesta Key. Between projects at work and commitments in the evening, I had not gone for a run in a really long time, so I figured this race was going to be rough. I ran it with one of my friends who has much longer legs…

Doggie Bones 5K

This morning I ran the Doggie Bones 5K, a fundraiser for Nate’s Honor Animal Rescue where I adopt my pups from. This was the first race of the year for me since I skipped out on Gasparilla. It was also my first 5K of the year, which is important because I want to get my…

2016 Goals

If you read my last post you’ll know 2015 didn’t go as planned. So now I want to look forward to 2016. For those that haven been following my blog for awhile, you know that I like to set goals as opposed to resolutions. When it comes down to it, they’re pretty similar. I just like…

2015 Turkey Trot

The tradition continued this year and I started my Thanksgiving with a 5K run over the Ringling bridge at the 2015 ALSO Youth Turkey Trot. This year my boyfriend ran it with me. This year my pace was a bit slower…it certainly didn’t feel that way. We finished in 36:02, which is almost three minutes…

Run for Tidewell Hospice

Yesterday I ran my eighth race of the year, the Run for Tidewell Hospice 5K. It was a nice, small local race that went through a neighborhood I didn’t even know existed. It was also a great temperature to run at, so that made it even better. I hadn’t really been running before this race…

Detroit Half Training: Week 1

Oh my goodness, it’s that time again! It’s been a few month since I’ve had a training program, but it’s nice to be consistently running again. And hopefully, consistently posting again. It’s been a hell of a week to kick things off. I only missed one workout, which I had every intention of doing…I just…
